Handelsbanken has appointed Steve McDonald to the role of national head of intermediary business.
McDonald has been at the bank for 12 years and spent the last two years developing the its proposition for mortgage brokers.
He previously spent 23 years with NatWest across a number of sectors, including management roles, and left in 2005 to develop a commercial finance brokerage.
In his new role, McDonald will be overseeing the expansion of the bank’s work with intermediaries on residential and commercial mortgages across the United Kingdom.
McDonald says: “Handelsbanken has been working successfully with intermediaries for many years, but we took the decision to develop this still further – and make it a key piece of our offering. Having spent the last two years developing our strategy, I am delighted to now have the chance to launch it nationwide.
“In taking up my new role, I plan to bring even greater focus on the importance of the broker channel in the delivery of our ambitious growth aspirations – and, externally, to support our branch network in raising the profile of our intermediary proposition in their local areas.”
